I really want to take singing lessons as well as the guitar, but I don't think that my voice is very good. Will the lessons help or is there no chance at getting better? Plus I have heard that even if you suck starting out at a young age will make you better…well I am 14, so where does that leave me? Thanks.
Yes, they help, but like any kind of schooling, you take what you choose to take.
It may seem like you're not learning much, but after a month or so, you'll have clearer pronunciation, and your mouth will move and shape itself accordingly to the genre you choose to sing. Scales are also fantastic for vocal range and control.
Take your time finding a teacher though, even if they know what they're teaching, if you don't get along with them, you won't enjoy your lesson.
