Tips, Tricks and Tools To Help You Sing!

Will vocal lessons help me improve my voice a lot?

I think i have an good voice, not breathtaking but not bad. I know vocal lessons wont change my voice, but will it help me go from an ok singer to an excellent singer? I know im not tone deaf, but i have a hard time controlling my voice and getting it into to perfect pitch. Will vocal lessons help me a lot?
Btw, how easy is it to damage your voice…does it take days, weeks, months ,etc?

Vocal lessons will definitely help you a lot, but more importantly, they will help you sing with proper technique and thus keep you from permanently damaging your voice. It’s a slow process– don’t expect to go from Joe Schmo to Michael Buble over night. But if you’re patient, and you keep at it, vocal training is definitely well worth it. :)

RE: Vocal damage

Different types of vocal damage develop in different ways. Singers’ Nodes develop over a period of abuse, and are marked by a gradual, increasing raspy sound to the voice. Vocal hemorrhage (simply put, bleeding of the vocal folds) is an injury that can occur suddenly from abuse (screaming, singing incorrectly). It’s not associated with pain, but the singer might experience a loss of range; their voice literally does a 180, and it’s obvious that something isn’t right. It’s the equivalent of an athlete snapping their Achilles tendon– you’ll know.

An ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist) will be able to look at your vocal cords and figure out what is going on.
