Tips, Tricks and Tools To Help You Sing!

Will expansion in my legit singing range expand my belting range as well?

I’m tenor, and can belt a B4, so of course singing legit i can go higher than that in my higher chest register. but, i’m about to start voice lessons and i was wondering if both sides of my voice will expand….

belting range roughly corresponds to our normal speaking range ( minus a couple of high notes when we squeak or do funny voices). The vocal mechanism has a gear shift to get into the higher registers, and beyond this gear shift it’s rather painful and eventually detrimental to your voice to belt any higher.
singing lessons will help expand your range in both directions, but there are natural limits to each register, or portion, of your voice that do not expand. In classical singing we attempt to smooth out the gear shifts to make them less audible. Not so in more modern styles. Depends on what direction you want ot go in, but the body has its own rules as well, like how tall you grow or what your eye color is. Some of these things we can fake ( high heels, colored contact lenses) but what is natural is always best.
