Start with someone classically trained even if you sing pop. It is REALLY dangerous to try and sing "the way you want to" without someone keeping you away from permanent vocal damage. A classical, or opera, teacher can help you with that. Just tell them what you want to sing and explain you just want to learn healthy singing. They will probably start with classical music pieces, but they know what they are doing, be patient, you will get to where you want to be. The last thing you want to do is lose your voice trying to sound like the last chart-topper. Good Luck!!
