I’m a complete beginner, starting lessons at a community college.
I know it is a bit of an ambitious dream especially since I don’t have much experience other than from online experience and a cheap (very cheap) Casio Keyboard. I really don’t know where to start; I just know I need weighted keys. I’m looking at recording vocals (with a separate microphone) and piano onto my computer and then perhaps if possible (once I get "good") give being a musician a shot (as far as careers go). Also as a kind of extra question, can someone explain to me the necessity of getting a synth.
I was looking at Yamaha’s YPG-635 (this one has a lot of features, problem is I don’t know if it’s portable) and Yamaha’s P85. I really have no clue which would be better or if either of them is right for me. I do see a lot of bands use a Roland. Sorry for this long explanation, I appreciate the feedback, and please excuse my amateur knowledge on the subject. Thank you.
Most keyboards in the $500 and up range have on-board recording capabilities. I use a ROLAND G-S in the studio and on stage that I has about 3000 songs programmed into IN MULTI TRACK and even my little Yamaha that I have in the office has 4 track recording capabilities.
Go to www.music123.com and look at what they have and you can even talk to one of their very knowledgeable sales people to get the right keyboard for your needs.
