How can I train myself vocally without a teacher? Is there a place I can learn vocal technique?
I've been told that getting a teacher is the best way but right now I don't think I can afford it (I'm just a high-schooler) and sadly my parents don't think singing is anything important, so until I go to college and get a teacher I'd love it if I were somehow able to train.
You need someone else to help you. Think of it this way – if you did math problems how would you know they were correct if no one taught you how to do it? You need a teacher. How are you going to know if you are getting any better? Are you in chorus in school? Is there a community choir you can join, a church choir? You can't do it alone – you won't get anywhere. Look at the fools on American idol that can't figure out why they didn't make it to Hollywood! It's cause the SUCK and no one told them to stop singing!! Trust me, you need a teacher. There has to be someone that can help you. Good luck! Do your parents know that you could get a college scholarship for singing if you are really good? Maybe they won't think it's so stupid then.
