What are pure vowels? Simply stated a pure vowel is one that is produced in a way that the voice can maintain cord closure or “adduction” during phonation and can easily move between resonances from lowest note to the highest tone with little difficulty. The Ah vowel. When vocalizing this vowel sound you want to create continuous compressions in the vocal cabinet and pharyngeal cavity through “coloring” the vowel as you ascend the scale or vocal phrase higher. Begin at a lower tone in your lowest notes pronouncing the “Ah” as in “father”. As you ascend the scale or vocal phrase especially when approaching the “bridges” or Passagio, you want to go from an “Ah” in “Father” to an “Uh” as in “Other”. As you perform the vowel in this way, a relaxing of the larynx is maintained and the tone sounds transparent as you go higher. If you were to stay with the “Ah” as in Father on the way up, you would experience both tension and vocal cord disconnect. In addition to the vowel shift, especially as you ascend the scale or phrase, you want to be aware of the shape of your lips, the conjecture of your head in relation to your spinal position and the position of the jaw and shoulders. Correct Chin Placement You want your shoulders to be as relaxed as possible, not slouched, but relaxed in a natural position of rest. Imagine you’re sitting in a chair with a small child in your arms gently pulling your hands into a “cradled” position. This is how your shoulders should feel during exercise and performance as well. Your lips should be in a semi-pursed position, in other words, slightly open as if you were about to speak the word “what”. Your head should feel as if it were “floating” or “feather light” resting gently on top of your spine. Your spine should be in a non-rigid position in line with your shoulder position and head. Your chin should be in a level position in line with your shoulders and the jaw should remain relaxed (see illustrations for proper chin placement). Ricki Keith

Do I seem like a stalker?
Hey! lol so basically, Michael and I both have the same voice coach… we met each other through her and both now sing for this guy… So at one of the shows he took my phone number but i couldnt take his because my phone was dead….
We sort of decided to start doing our own shows because the guy we sing for is an a** hole… So we usually have our voice lessons together now and i needed to confirm so i got his number from my voice coach and texted him… after he said hed text me his number (my phones retarded)… but he seemed really cool about it. My voice coach says he thinks im "one of the most talented singers hes ever met" and he thinks im a really cool person. We have been trying to go to a karaoke bar for a few weeks now (just my coach, him and I) but it is only karaoke on Sundays so its been very difficult to all get that day free. He was going to go alone with me last sunday but he needed to do something (a legit excuse, im not posting what it was on here though).
Hes 23 and has a really important job and im only 19… Im in college, have had my job for 3 years, and do these singing shows. Hes very bad with his cell phone. He does text but it takes hours for him to respond and he answers it… sometimes. My coach also says hes bad at answering his phone. Whenever I do speak with him, he always seems really eager and excited to sing with me. To share our lessons or get together to go over some possible show songs. Hes extremely nice. AND REALLY YUMMY. lol! I always fall for singers… Well, I texted him yesterday to see if we were sharing our lesson today… then i called him after he didnt respond for 6 hours… he didnt answer. I called him today at about noon and he didnt answer again. He hadnt been in touch with our coach either… When I got to our lesson, my coach informed me that he had just woken up and had been sick all day and just got all the missed calls. I still havent heard from him though… Do you think I should text him to see how hes feeling? Is that awky? Ive texted him quite a bit but its always about singing and shows and rehearsals. I throw in a "how are you" every once in a while. He said hes been extremely busy and that hes sorry hes been distant and distracted that it should clear up within the next month. Hes also looking forward to seeing me again. Do you think I text him too much? Im a paragraph texter lol I know, annoying. Should I tell him i hope he feels better? Should I ask him to meet up to go over some songs this weekend? Were probably going to karaoke this sunday because were all free.
Not really

I wouldn’t text him again.. see if he goes on Sunday to the karaoke thing. If not, don’t call him. Let him work for you a little bit.

I personally would let him contact you. If he is keen to sing with you let him get in touch. If he doesn’t its his loss. I do know that I get annoyed when someone keeps txting me. If a don’t reply straight away its because I am busy then after that I normally forget to reply.

Nooooo…don’t write back at all…when he has time or is ready on his own, then HE WILL TEXT YOU!!!..Don’t freak, you have texted him enough already, so you don’t want to seem to attached to him, because that’s when they start to lose interest, once they know they’ve "got you."…usually, LoL…Just be patient and wait it out, but if he texts you, then text him back but make it simple..plus, don’t be so quick/hasty to write him back….if he feels the same for you as you feel for him, then everything will fall into place on its own…DON’T WORRY, YOU’LL BE FINE! …see ya later, and tell me how things go for ya…=P
