Tips, Tricks and Tools To Help You Sing!

Trying to sing… how to sing well on lower notes?

I have a baritone voice, but I can only sing well on my upper range. Do I need to use a different type of voice (like chest voice or whatever) for my lower range? Thanks
no, i’m not singing in falsetto. I think part of the problem is that the song i’m am singing sounds better an octave higher, but I can’t get that high

First of all, don’t listen to Cheri. Your stomach should be what’s "inflating" when you breathe, not your chest. And if your shoulders go up, then you’re REALLY breathing wrong. But your stomach should always come out (and don’t listen to people who tell you to breathe from the diaphragm. Humans don’t have control over that muscle. What people mean when they say that is to breathe deep [aka- expand the stomach]). And yes, you should be using more and more chest voice as you go lower. Singing in chest voice doesn’t mean your chest is expanding when you breathe. It means that you can feel vibrations in your chest cavity when using it (as opposed to feeling them in your head with your head voice). And I agree that you should see a professional voice coach. He’ll help you hear when you’re singing in your different voices so it’s not all guess work.
