I live in Denton, TX (Near Dallas/Ft. Worth) and I want to start taking voice lessons for musical theater. I've been in choir for years and have fairly good technique, but I need help to tweak my style for the stage. The problem is that I don't know how to find a teacher. Are there places I can look online to find someone maybe? How do you find a vocal coach?
As the person above me said, check with your choir director [you never know she/he may teach private lessons] she/he will be pleased with you intrest and would be more than happy to help.
Does your school offer music lessons? Like for piano, guitar etc? Check if they offer vocal lessons too, some schools do.
Other people you could ask is singers you know, like one of your friends or a older student who is a singer etc and ask where they take there lessons.
The last thing you could do is check the yellow pages under music tutitions, singing lessons, private music tutition etc even try under specific instruments because most places offer Guitar, Piano, Vocal and Other instruments because you can broaden your chances of finding a good coach.
