1

English accent…
I would like to learn how to have a english accent. I tend to do alt in the drama part of my school but whenever i try out they want me to have an english accent, sadly im not very good at it so any help about being able to have one would be great.
websites are also appreciated.

When I was in University in England, I developed what is called a "MID ATLANTIC ACCENT" which is what most non Brits develop.. it says that you are NOT a Brit but you are EDUCATED IN BRITAIN… It took me about two YEARS to perfect the accent and if you don’t have a British Mother Tongue person to help you.. you will end up sounding like Dick Van Dyke in MARY POPPINS because COCKNEY is what AmeriKans THINK is a proper British Accent.. AND IT’S NOT… it’s the Brit equivalent of an Ameriakan RED NECK PIECE OF SOUTHERN TRAILER TRASH ACCENT… Cockney says the person is IGNORANT, ILLITERATE and at the lower end of the socio-economic scale.. i.e… POOR TRASH.

You could TRY listening to the BBC.. they speak with what is called a "BBC ACCENT" and it’s very close to a proper, up market London accent.
