LOTS of things in Missouri are available to you if you have the option to travel in the state.
Are you looking to take part in something, or just go watch shows? Warrensburg provides both with the activities of UCM's music department. Their performing arts series and friends of music draws in amazing musicians from all over the world. There is an annual opera theatre show.
I wouldn't suggest MU for their music program if you don't enjoy being "just a number." Search through their website to see what music activities they offer each year.
St. Louis and KC both have their symphonies, STL has an opera theatre, KC has a lyrical opera theatre.
Secondly, if you have a private teacher, why not ask them what else is available to you?
