I have sort of a problem. I have ALWAYS wanted to learn how to sing…I'm in my school choir, but that doesnt seem to be helping very much because most of the time I'm afraid to sing because I'm convinced I'm going to sing the wrong notes. I know private lessons are the best way to go, but the problem is, I already take both piano and cello lessons, which obviously adds up, so I can't afford to have voice lessons. Does anyone have any tips?
For some tips on improving your singing skill, do warm-ups everyday. This will make your voice get used to singing notes smoothly in a scale. Also, practice dynamics. Dynamics will allow your voice to transend from soft and loud. In choir singing, every vowel shape counts. For example, when singing a word such as "son" you say it with an ah sound; this then becomes "sahn" and not "sun". If you wish to practice your vowel shapes, I recommend choosing and learning to sing a foreign language song, such as italian. Well, hope these tips help.
