I took lessons with a lady who had a book that had vocal warm-ups and exercises in it, and it came with a CD, which was really convienent, but she has since moved away and I am taking lessons with a new lady now…
can you recommend me a good book and Cd set with good vocal warm-ups and exercises on it? if you could also provide me the link online to purchase it, that would be amazing… thanks so much
well, if you are interested in classical exercises, your local music store can help with a book of exercises by an old Italian master by the name of Vaccai. the book comes ( with CD) in medium high and medium low versions, depending on if you are soprano or alto. I'll bet that you can also find it on-line with amazon or borders or any of the other "name" bookstores, so that a special link isn't necessary.
another book which might be of interest ( and also comes with CD) is called Freeing the Natural Voice, by Kristin Linklater. It's aimed more at actors wanting to learn about their singing potentials, but it wouldn't hurt a singer to take a look at it, either. Also available at the above-named stores.
Why don't you ask your new teacher what she recommends, since you will be working most intenseively with her?
