Anytime I listen to Indian music, I notice that their voices are different. And I’m talking about people from India, not Native Americans. Specifically in the women’s voices. Is it their accent that makes them sing this way or is a certain kind of training? I really like it and would like to learn how.

Being an Indian I want to clear this. Here in Bollywood the actors and actresses don’t sing(they can’t sing). We have singers(known as playback singers) who sing for them. They actors/actresses just lip-sync to the songs. There are many singers who sing for them, that’s why their voice sounds different in every movie.
Here the singers mostly take training in classical music of India which are Hindustani and Carnatic.
