I can sing fairly well, but I can't seem to sing in my chest voice. Can anyone please explain to me how I can sing in my chest voice? I know absolutely no musical terms, so please refrain from using any. 
many people who cannot sing in their "chest" voices sing very nasally; i suppose that would be your case.
one of the best techniques ive heard of and told some of my friends about is holding your nose while you sing. if you sound extremely nasally when singing while holding your nose, most likely you are singing through your nose. work on not sounding nasally while holding your nose, and when you release your nose, you should be singing in your so-called "chest" voice.
