I had voice lessons from a professional teacher and we talked about this. He was in his high school choir and his teacher couldn't figure out why his voice was not maturing like the other kids in the choir. During one of his solos in a concert, one man (a former voice teacher) figured out what was wrong and why his voice was not more mature. He took Mr. Westerburg (my voice teacher) and he was talking to him. Over four weeks, the man taught Mr. Westerburg a thing that he called "loft" and "ring." Loft is your high, squeaky, baby voice. Ring is your mature voice. What you do to create ring is you try to make your voice sound old and a bit "mannish." The ring will seem very awkward and strange at first, but you will get used to it. Keep practicing your ring and when you have gotten used to this tone, add a bit of loft. Trust me, and Mr. Westerburg, that it will help your voice overall and you will see a difference!
