I can't use my high pitched voice when singing and it really bothers me because that's the voice I use all the time to sing with. The only tone I can use is my normal, talking tone (if you get my meaning) and I sound like a dying cat. But, yeah, I was just wondering if there was anything I could do to get my voice back to normal so that I can sing once more. Any suggestions? Anyone?
you need to give yourself some more time. A cold isn't necessarily over when you stop blowing your nose. Your body is still dealing with getting rid of the dead virus/bacteria cells that started the cold. they have been encased in mucous ( body bag on CSI?)and need to be sent away, far away, out of your body. You need to kep your fluid intake rather higher than normal ( that's why people like teas and warm drinks when they have a cold- it helps wash away the gunk in the most natural way possible) and let your body take its time. Rushing things will not help at all. As a matter of fact, most decongestants or nose sprays will actually cause your body to go on overtime and produce more mucous. Not a good spiral to be caught up in.
Watming up your voice very gently by humming and sighing without a lot of strength will give you a gauge to work with. When your body is ready for more, you'll feel it and hear it.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery
