Getting into West Virginia University?

Do you think I could be accepted?

I had really awful grades my first 3 years of high school because of an illness. I then transfered senior year to an online school (its accredited) and I have a 4.0 from this new school so far. When I apply, my GPA from the two schools combined will probably be between a 2.1 and a 2.4 depending on how many classes I can finish. I doubt I could finish enough classes in time to raise it any more than a 2.4.

-I’m an out of state student.
-I haven’t taken my ACT yet but on my practice test I got a 25 composite (33 English, 25 Science, 24 Reading, 18 Math).
-My essay is already finished and I think it’s really really good. It talks about why my grades were so horrible before and how the challenge has made me stronger.
-Extracurriculars include:
Tennis
Waterski team
Vocal jazz
Retail work
Secretary
Voice & piano lessons
Church mission trip
Participated in solo ensemble competitions
-Also took honors and AP classes

That is my alma mater and I loved it. The PRT, Towers, Marris’s country store. It’s awesome. You might have some trouble if you are out of state. This is from the admissions department website.

Minimum Requirements for Application Review
(meeting these requirements does not guarantee admission to the Morgantown campus)

West Virginia residents must have at least a 2.0 grade-point average and either a composite ACT score of 19 or a combined Math and Critical Reading SAT score of 910.

Nonresidents must have at least a 2.5 grade-point average and either a composite ACT score of 21 or a combined Math and Critical Reading SAT score of 990.

Please note that West Virginia University does not mix and match sub scores from different test dates for admissions and scholarship consideration. Only the best composite score is used in determining eligibility.

I would still give it a shot though. It is not a terribly competitive university.
