I'm the only kid in my church's choir and they all tell me I sing well, they've convenced me into serval solos but I still don't think I sing well. Am I just being to hard on myself or am I right?
By the way it's the choir and there are nothing but older people in it, they all sing VERY well.
Why do you think you're not so good? I never thought I had a good singing voice, but I joined our church choir (like you, I was the only preteen/teenager with a bunch of older people) because I liked singing. Over time I realized I actually was a pretty good singer, and my biggest problem was confidence. Our choir was very small, so every part was challenging. I had to sing soprano with one other person and make sure I could be heard over all the other parts! Once I became more sure of myself, though, things got easier and I improved my singing technique a lot. Another thing is, you will always notice more mistakes in your own voice than others will, because you know yourself. So, a tiny mistake may seem huge to you, whereas no one else will even notice it. It is best not to dwell on mistakes, but to keep trying to improve until you are confident in your abilities.
If they all say you sing well, they're probably telling the truth! If you are more confident while singing, you will sound better, too.
