Tips, Tricks and Tools To Help You Sing!

Does any one have a Cockatiel that is trained to talk and sing well ?

If so tell me how you trained them so that I might do the same. Or if you have any videos on training the bird give me the link.
Thank You.

I have a male 4 year old cockatiel who talks and whistles, dances and holds mumbled conversations with the person on the phone.
What we found best to train him to talk was to start with simple words such as hello and pretty boy. We related them with simple things, such as when we went to uncover him in the morning, greeting him with a Hello. he soon would greet us when we uncovered him, and we would reply back. Then once he had mastered those, we moved onto larger words, like scratch cocky.

Words with "s" may be hard for your bird at first, but with patience, they will pick it up. Always assosiate a word with a action, like scratch cocky with a scratch, its name with a need for attention, and pretty boy as a comfort and so on.

When teaching him to dance, we would tap a finger and say dance! He got it by mimicking the sound of my finger tapping by tapping his foot. He also attempted to mimic it by making small little "whit whit whit" noises in time to my tapping.

Hope this helps =]
