Who knows if he train hard enough, he found his own voice fast and can sing well. It took me 1 year to find my voice, and then another 2 more years to fine tune them.. But still having problem with opening up my voice. Different people learn differently and at different pace, I think for your husband's case should not be a problem since you can guide him along PROPERLY since you are good at singing. It took me that long since its all self-exploration XD P.S: Gotta stress the word "properly" because it really develop the strength of the vocal chords.. yada yada..
