Pat Benatar Tickets – You Can Guarantee That She Will Give it Her Best Shot!

0

Pat Benatar is still rocking the battlefield of music even after all these years, and it is all the more evident that she still holds enormous weight within the music industry, as she was just inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame. The event took place last month, and Benatar was included among a list of other musical greats like LL Cool J, Marvin Hamlisch, Blue A-yster Cult, The Ramones and The Tokens. Benatar reportedly said in her acceptance letter that evening that she will “never forget that a small town girl from Lindenhurst LI actually got the chance to live her dreams. Long Island girls ROCK!” Indeed they do, and Pat Benatar is living proof. For more information on Pat Benatar, check out http://www.stubhub.com/pat-benatar-tickets/.

Benatar is often considered one of the leading female rock vocalists of the 1980s, and it is amazing that she still has the gift of singing. She is most recognized for several of her favorite songs that include “Love is a Battlefield” and “Hit Me With Your Best Shot.” Benatar also has several Grammy Awards under her belt and has sold millions of records worldwide. Keep tabs on where Benatar and her husband will be playing so that you can be sure to get a pair of Pat Benatar tickets and enjoy the show.

Benatar was born in Brooklyn, New York, and she initially studied voice and opera in school, following in the footsteps of her mother. It was only later that she really began taking singing seriously, and she started performing at many different clubs and bars throughout New York City. Her first single, “Heartbreaker,” was released in late 1979, and immediately it was a hit, reaching the number 23 mark on the U.S. charts. Following that success, her debut LP, In the Heat of the Night, generated even more attention from both the critics and the fans. In 1981, she was awarded the Grammy for “Best Female Rock Vocal Performance,” and people really started catching on to her wild and crazy tunes that were quickly becoming favorites around the world. Of course this was just start of her well-known career. Benatar went on to record many other successful and well-received albums including Crimes of Passion, Precious Time, Get Nervous and Live From Earth. She’s hardly ever received bad reviews, and she continues to record music even well into the 2000s. Many people today are intent on purchasing plenty of Pat Benatar tickets so that they can see her many shows.

She has been considered the most successful female rock vocalist of all time and has won many awards throughout her lifetime for her amazing music. And of course it’s a sure bet that all of us at one point ended up in a karaoke bar pretending to sing “Love is a Battlefield” in a night that probably ended in embarrassment. She will sing every song and will most likely give it “her best shot.” Gather up your friends and make plans to sing along to some of Benatar’s most popular hits.

How to Use A Free Golf Swing Video To Help Improve Your Game

0

It seems that we always talk about how there is “no such thing as a free lunch”. The fact is that when it comes to golf instruction, this couldn’t be further from the true. Nothing will be able to help you as much as your instructor and your lessons, but there is a lot of free information online that can help you help yourself.

There are many websites, mostly those from the major world golf organizations, which offer free golf swing videos of the pros and instructors right on their site. By using this free resource, you can even perform your own sing analysis. Sound complicated? Just be creative.

Watch Video Relating to Your Instructions

After a golf lesson, go to one of the golf websites and find a free golf swing video that highlights something you learned or discussed at your lesson. Watch the video and learn what it looks like when done correctly. That way, you know how it should feel from your lesson and how it should look from the video.

See Your Own Swing

Next, either video tape your swing, or in the absence of video capabilities, watch yourself take a few swings in a mirror. Compare what you are doing to the video to do your own little amateur swing analysis. Then, next lesson you have, you can talk to your instructor about your swing and what you saw on the free golf swing video you took from the internet.

Use Other Video Resources

The free golf swing videos are not the only clips that are valuable online. You will also find that you can get a visual on what a particular drill should look like, what the roll of a proper putt looks like, and even what the best equipment is. The internet is a great resource for your game; don’t be afraid to use it.

The only problem with free online videos is that they are often large so take forever to download. Also some sites offer golf video clips that are either of poor visual quality or poor technical quality.

Always review a site to find out if their video tips are performed by professionals or just weekend warriors, the last thing you want is to spend ages downloading a 5 minute video only to find it was made on a handy cam by some guys who have only been playing golf for a couple of weeks.

Music Review of Emergency by the Pigeon Detectives

0

“The Pigeon Detectives” are a five-piece indie rock band from Rothwell, Leeds in England. The Pigeon Detectives are Matt Bowman (Vocals), Oliver Main (Guitars and Backing Vocal), Ryan Wilson (Guitar and Backing Vocal), Dave Best (Bass and Backing Vocal) and Jimmy Naylor (Drums and Backing Vocals). Their music genre are mainly alternative rock, indie rock and garage rock revival and they are signed to Leeds based independent record label Dance To The Radio. Their funny band name? Honestly, i don’t think it’s funny, it’s very unique instead. Speaking of it and according to NME, Drummer Jimmi Naylor stated that he has never like the name, but it grew on him and The Pigeon Detectives started to gain attention due to the silly name. He even mentioned that, “It came from an Australian guy who we met at the Leeds Festival.

Emergency by The Pigeon Detectives is a great successor to its predecessor, Wait For Me. For some, it might even sound better than Wait For Me. It’s kind of funny that you find that The Pigeon Detectives are in some ways, a cross between The Futureheads and The Libertines. The Pigeon Detectives have the raw energy of The Futureheads and the killing guitar hooks of The Libertines. Well The Pigeon Detectives are relatively still new, with only Emergency being their second album, but i’m pretty sure they have a steady growth of fans.

Emergency begins with the guitar-packed “This Is An Emergency”. Matt Bowman can be heard singing, “Don’t make me go, don’t make me go home…” This Is An Emergency is the type of song where it started quiet and slow, eventually when everything is right, it got louder and all the rest of The Pigeon Detectives joined in with, “This Is An Emergency…”. Heavy guitar playing can be heard throughout this track. Definitely a guitar fan will love this track. It may not be the best opening to an album, but hey, This Is An Emergency is good enough to get you asking for more from The Pigeon Detectives.

The second track on Emergency is called “I’m Not Gonna Take This”. It’s a fast tempo track with some fast and start-stop guitar playing. Matt sings, “And im not gonna take it, cause im so sick and tired of you lying, and im not sure if you’re trying for me anymore…” I can see that Matt is frustrated of being lied to over and over again, thus a slight anger can be heard in Matt’s voice. At certain points in I’m Not Gonna Take This, the guitar is being played in a way that it resembles the sound of Indian music where it’s used to control and even hypnotize a snake to perform a snake dance… Perhaps The Pigeon Detectives already got me hypnotized.

“Keep on Your Dress” has a somewhat unique opening to it. Remember a movie which starred Sandra Bullock and called “Ms.Congeniality”? If you can recall, she has a very special talent in that movie, which is making some whistling sound by hovering her hands or palms over half water-filled glasses. Well, Keep On Your Dress has this special sound to it in the beginning. This song is a catchy pop rock ballad which i believe everyone will find it a good listen, especially the guitar which has a hook that is so good.

“Don’t You Wanna Find Out” is another track on Emergency which has some really heavy guitar work and play on it. At times, i find it such a cheerful and happy pop song, especially when Matt goes, “When the sun comes up, there’d be nothing wrong, cause i will be away from you…” Anyone who have not heard of The Pigeon Detectives can start to understand them with Don’t You Wanna Find Out. I thought to myself, don’t you wanna find out more about The Pigeon Detectives?

I like the beginning of “I’ll Be Waiting”, where what sounded like a lazy guitar can be heard until Matt came in with his hyped voice, “I know you think you’re so much better, and we used to get on fine together, now i don’t think that will work, you want to see me in the dirt…” The chorus is even better, together with some light guitar and bass playing, Matt again goes, “I’ll be waiting for you, when you wanna go? When you wanna go?” Honestly, I’ll Be Waiting is such a simple song with some really catchy rhythm and hooks, but things really change, i find myself kind of like this song. Sometimes, it’s simplicity that works like magic.

“She’s Gone” is full of catchy and energetic guitar riff. Whenever i listen to this song, i can imagine that The Pigeon Detectives are having fun with this track. When the chorus comes in, the guitar playing in the background was really good. One of the reasons that The Pigeon Detectives can make it so big is definitely their catchy and ambitious guitar riffs.

“Nothing To Do With You” is a short lovely ballad. In this lovely song, you will discover another side of The Pigeon Detectives. By now you’d have already known that The Pigeon Detectives are awesome with guitars. But Nothing To Do With You expose another side of The Pigeon Detectives. Performed acoustically with the help of acoustic guitars, Matt showed us that he’s equally good even if on acoustic session.

“I’m A Liar” gets it on with start-stop bass line and some guitars which echoed like the sound of reggae. The chorus of I’m A Liar is splendid indeed. Matt goes, “papapa padapa, papapa padapa, i only came here, ’cause I hinder you drinking, darling..” This track is really full of some serious guitar sounds, including the high pitched solo guitar riffing session after the second chorus. I’m A Liar is loud and fun. It wouldn’t be long when you find yourself liking this song. Some serious guitar hooks here.

Emergency continues with “You Don’t Need It”, which its guitar really has some resemblance to those of The Strokes. At first listen to You Don’t Need It, The Pigeon Detectives already got me wanting for more. I just like the whole guitar riffs that were going on throughout this track. Before verse, during verse, during chorus and after chorus. And the rest of The Pigeon Detectives came in and joined the fun and went, “You have me come and go and I just don’t know where I stand, how could you think about me when you’re with another man, oh you don’t need it!..” I wish i can join in as well.

“Say It Like You Mean It” is such a cheerful and happy tune. A fast tempo track where The Pigeon Detectives play at their best. Fast and loud guitar riffs everywhere on this track. The verse of this track is really something. It has the quality to make me wanna sing along as well. If i’m not mistaken, i think Matt is trying to tell a girl to say whatever she was trying to express, thus the lyrics, “Why don’t you say it like you mean it?” This is definitely a track not to be missed if The Pigeon Detectives were to perform live, and you would enjoy this track even on a recording CD version as well. Happy listening.:-D

The title of “Love You For A Day (Hate You For A Week)” is very appealing and after listening to the first track on Emergency, i straight away hit the No.11 button to listen to this track. You see, the title that you chose played a big role as well. Imagine that this track were to be called just “Love You For A Day”. Wouldn’t that be too common for a title? Smart title choice by The Pigeon Detectives. This song is about a couple’s break-up and again, the main instrument that can be heard in Love You For A Day (Hate You For A Week) is guitar. But it’s really good, The Pigeon Detectives know how to play the guitar in style. There are some singing parts in this track that make me wanna sing along as well.

“Making Up Numbers” is yet again another track that contains some heavy guitar riffs. Kind of reminds me Guns and Roses. Every Sentence that Matt sings is followed by some heavy guitars. There’s a catch here in the lyrics, “What the f*ck are we doing here? I’ve made my intentions clear, we should get out while we can.” Seriously if you just read the sentence above, you would know what it means. However, if you look at the lyrics as a whole, it’s hard to understand. Even myself doesn’t get it. Making Up Numbers sounds like another couple’s break-up song yet again. Not a bad effort!

For the first part of “Everybody Wants Me – Draw The Curtain (Hidden Track)”, Everybody Wants Me is sort of catchy with its steady guitar, drums and tempo. It tells the story of a man where he was popular back then when he was young, everybody just wants him.. But he has only one person in his heart. Oh ya, the bass on this track was quite an impression as well. When Draw The Curtain comes alive, it just gets better. Draw The Curtain is an ancoustic track which i think was quite remarkable. The reason i said so? You’ll know when you listen to it. The best part is when The Pigeon Detectives sing together in a band. It’s like they’re having fun with Draw The Curtain as you can hear them laughing and whistling at the end of the track. The end with a happy note!:-D

Rating: Emergency by The Pigeon Detectives is full of energetic guitar riffs. From high pitched ones to those steady hooks. I bet they would leave us all worn out if we were to see them live in a gig or concert. The Pigeon Detectives really make guitars their best friends, with every single track, almost every one of it has some catchy and trademark hooks to it. Considering Emergency is produced less than one year after their debut, they have made Emergency as catchy as possible to whet their fans’ appetite. Even for new fans of The Pigeon Detectives, most likely they’ll have a good impression on Emergency. However to be honest, i find most of their songs forgettable. The Pigeon Detectives are still relatively new, time will tell whether they’ll evolve and grow together as an indie rock band! My rating for Emergency by The Pigeon Detectives would be 6.2 out of 10.

Stand-Out Tracks (My Picks): Don’t You Wanna Find Out, She’s Gone, You Don’t Need It, Say It Like You Mean It and Everybody Wants Me – Draw The Curtain (Hidden Track).

Cheers!

Wedding Ceremonies in Spain

5

Preparing for a wedding is always a time of great joy and also great stress.  This article includes some tips that would apply to preparing for a marriage anywhere in the world, but is specifically about getting married in Spain, as the Spanish culture, bureaucracy and weather make certain preparations different than elsewhere.

If you plan on having the full legal marriage ceremony in Spain, then be aware that different regions of Spain have different legal requirements and for some being a Spanish resident is necessary.  It’s not Las Vegas and a quick legal ceremony is therefore not an option, so ensure that the actual legal ceremony and the church or wedding venue fit with your desires and your faith.

Again, for a full legal wedding, the bureaucracy can be substantial and it normally takes a few months to obtain all the necessary documents you need from different authorities.  This is an area where a wedding organiser can help, particularly if you don’t speak Spanish.

Before you make a firm decision on where and when to marry, it’s therefore best to research different options and the first decision is perhaps to marry in Spain, or to have the legal ceremony in your native country and have the non-legal wedding ceremony in Spain.

If you have the opportunity to visit both the wedding venue and the accommodation in advance (preferably without announcing your intentions first, so you get a more objective view), then this is certainly a good idea.  If not, then see what other people recommend and find as much information out as possible through the internet or other sources.

The most important thing is that you agree with each other.  If you and your partner have different faiths, then it’s possible to create a ceremony that is respectful of both your faiths, be they religious, spiritual, humanist, alternative or if one or both of you are of no faith.

Particularly if a large group are staying in the same hotel, it’s worth trying to negotiate a discounted rate if someone mentions that they’re part of your group, or perhaps some other offer for your party.

Many people can be involved in creating a marriage ceremony – florists, caterers, entertainers, etc.  If you can afford it, then hiring a Spanish speaking wedding organiser can make this go more smoothly and only you to enjoy yourselves more and fret less about the details.  Whether you decide to co-ordinate everything yourself, or pay someone else to co-ordinate things, it’s best to get everything in writing from suppliers – how much will be supplied, when, etc., as this reduces the likelihood that things will go wrong at the last minute, and also adds clarity to the process.

If you feel that you need to make a lot of final plans before you can be absolutely sure of the venue, you can always send out save the date invites, with a full invite sent later, as this allows guests more time to arrange leave from work, find good flights and organise a hotel and car hire, etc.

In this day and age, it’s quite common to create a wedding website where you publish the most important details of your big day.  Make sure you add photos to the website after the honeymoon, for those who couldn’t be there.

For winter weddings that you’re holding outside, make sure you have a contingency plan if it rains.  Equally important for summer weddings, you need to take into consideration that Spain can get very hot – particularly during the day in August.  If you’re having a summer wedding, then I would recommend starting the wedding proceedings in the late afternoon or evening, when it’s cooler, making sure that there’s plenty of water for everyone and if possible a source of shade.

Alcohol also quickly dehydrates people and while it is accepted as a normal part of most marriage ceremonies, it may be best not to offer too much alcohol too early in the proceedings, but wait until the evening party, so your guests don’t dehydrate during the hottest part of the day.

When choosing the bride and groom’s outfits, you’d be wise to choose one that will keep you cool enough in the summer, or warm enough in the winter.

If a guest offers to sing or play an instrument at your wedding, then it might be worth making sure that they can play or sing well before you say ‘yes’ – this is your special day, so be willing to say ‘no’ to any suggestions that you’re not comfortable with or that don’t fit your desires.  If, however, you ask guests to sing or give a speech, check that they’re confident enough to talk or sing in front of the assembly.

While it’s traditional for the bride to be a little late, it’s best not to be too late.  For the wedding itself, ideally arrive a day or two before and allow time for delays.  This also helps both the bride and groom to be more relaxed.

Your marriage ceremony, whether in Spain or anywhere in the world, will be a day of great joy.  It’s also only natural to be nervous, so while much of this article encourages consideration of your guests, remember that this day is for the two of you.  Be willing to ask for what you want and what you need and may your day be blessed with happiness and love.

What Makes Amateur Singers Shine?

0

Ever since ancient times, wherever people have congregated for social gatherings, singing and accompanying hand-clapping have been a part of the festivities. Even if a person’s voice was not good, his rendition of a song would lead to laughter from the other guests and would still enliven the party. It was therefore inevitable that karaoke songs would develop. The karaoke phenomenon got its start in Japan, a country known for its boisterous bar parties. Legend has it that a musical group was supposed to perform at a snack bar in Kobe City, but when the guitarists failed to show up, the bar owner played tapes of accompanying music and let the vocalist sing to it. Enjoying the spectacle, bar goers also started to contribute and sing along. Thus, karaoke– an abbreviated Japanese compound word taken from “karappo” meaning empty and “okesutura” meaning orchestra—was born.

The original karaoke machine was simply a tape of the accompanying music. This evolved into a CD with an accompanying video screen where the words to a particular song appear. The Japanese also invented something called a karaoke box, a roadside attraction where people could pull off the road and perform karaoke without disturbing their neighbors. The first karaoke box appeared in 1984 in a rice field in the countryside just west of Kansai. Soon, soundproofed karaoke boxes were popping up all over Japan, and the karaoke song phenomenon spread from a diversion for businessmen in a bar to all sectors of the Japanese culture. It seemed that holding a microphone and singing a song to musical accompaniment made everyone from housewives to students feel like professional singers. If the crowd they were singing in front of gave them a hand, these amateur singers felt even more invincible.

In the 1990s, karaoke songs spread to the rest of Asia and to the United States, where the compact discs were ultimately replaced by DVDs and other enhanced technology. Most karaoke machines now have technology that electronically changes the pitch of music so that amateur singers can sing along to any music source by choosing a key that is appropriate for their vocal range, while maintaining the original tempo of the song. There are different karaoke games that participants can engage in. In “Kamikaze Karaoke,” for instance, a random song is selected and all the singers must do their best to sing along. The popularity of karaoke in the United States has also led to the development of karaoke video games. Karaoke Revolution, released in North America in 2003, is a console game in which a single player sings along with on-screen guidance, and receives a score based on his or her pitch, timing, and rhythm.

Some people have maintained that karaoke songs are too “hokey” to take seriously, but for many others in the business of providing entertainment they have become a viable entertainment alternative for night clubs and lounges. With the explosion in the number of songs recorded and the availability of free karaoke music downloads, it appears that this cultural phenomenon has legs. What started out as a diversion for Japanese businessmen has turned into a viable way for all types of Westerners to relax and unwind after a tough week at the office.

Can a person that cant hold a tune learn to sing fairly well?

2

If they take lessons, do you think its possible for them to learn to sing? I think its hot for a man to serenade his woman, and I want my husband to do that for me. But he’s what you might call tone deaf. I can sing very well, and want to help him learn to sing better. It was his suggestion by the way, as he loves to sing. I just wondered if singing is a talent that can be learned with time.

He does have the desire to learn, then yes it’s possible, in fact highly possible since everybody really can sing. Who knows if he train hard enough, he found his own voice fast and can sing well.

It took me 1 year to find my voice, and then another 2 more years to fine tune them.. But still having problem with opening up my voice. Different people learn differently and at different pace, I think for your husband’s case should not be a problem since you can guide him along PROPERLY since you are good at singing.

It took me that long since its all self-exploration XD

P.S: Gotta stress the word "properly" because it really develop the strength of the vocal chords.. yada yada.. You know what I mean..lol
