do you think reality shows exploit people?

16

think about it. like american idol, sytycd, america’s got talent, america’s next top model etc. sometimes before they get up their and dance, sing, model etc. they have a llittle story about themselves. sometimes they talk about people in their famiy that have died or just something tragic that happened. the producers only want these stories for ratings, they don’t care about people’s feelings. and if you choose not to tell your story for ratings they won’t let you audtion. what i’m saying is these people get on tv for selling their family’s tragic story. Personally i wouldn’t want talk about someone in my family who died just so a tv show could make money off of it. i think that’s wrong for people that choose to do so.
i know some people chose not to audition for american idol b/c they didn’t want to sell their story of someone in their family dying.
it’s like a contract thing they sign and in it it says they can edit it however they like. i mean they make it pass the first round, and then they can’t audtion if they don’t want to tell a story.

No, they exploit subhumans.

Song choice for entering my towns local "Idol" competition?

3

My town has an idol competition every year
for my age category it's usually 10, 11, 12 year old girls that can sing like Whitney Houston and sing Celine Dion songs
but that's not me my voice has a warm raspy jazz tone and I play acoustic guitar
What song would be a good audtion/performance song?
It would have to be song I can play on my acoustic
(thank god I will be the only one up there with my guitar:))
I was thinking a beatles song
While my guitar gently weeps?
or is that too sad
I can do it beautifully

As long as you are creative and sell the song (put the right emotion, and connect as best you can with the song) whatever song can be great. I would recommend a song that shows off your range, but at the same time you are comfortable singing (Not too high or too low that it hurts your voice or makes your voice crack or "blip", or sound strained)

Phil collins or Basshunter Karaoke help?

1

Does anyone know were I could find a karaoke version of Phil Collins "I'm on my way" or Bass hunters "Angel in the night" It would really be appriaciated for you see I want to audtion for my schools Idol competition but I havn't been able find the insturmental versions so unless I do I won't be able to sing. Please help?

Look up "{song name} karaoke" or "{song name} instrumental" on youtube and then enter the address into listentoyoutube.com

If it's not there then look up "{song name karaoke}" on google.

If it's not there.. it doesn't exist and you can download adobe audition from 4shared.com and use the vocal remove function.

what the nationality of Reynaldo Lapuz?

3

from american idol season 7 date 1-16-08 he was the last audtion, and sang we are brothers.

Yea, I'm a Filipino myself
Reynaldo -> Common Filipino first name
Lapuz -> Common Filipino last name
even accent is very very familiar
and lastly the tune of the song is very filipino videoke ish

fact is, a lot of popular Original Filipino Music is similar to Reynaldo's composition – Repeating yet very catchy melodies that well up in a big high note at a certain point.

Of course there are exceptions and really good ones but fact is, if you are not stuck in some high-end place in the metropolis, you will hear this music in the provinces, rural areas, and even urban poor areas that are abundant in the city.

Proud to be PINOY! Represent Reynaldo!

im 16 im going to audition for american idol soon. i cant really sing, but im gonna put on a hannah montana wig i bought at claires and dress up lyk her as a "joke" to get on tv. i wrote two parodies tho which should i sing at the audtion.

1. the last i screwed up
i just kept looking down
i st-st-stuttered when i 4got the words
took 2 much ectsasy
there's a lot wrong with me
my best friend lesley said
oh shes just the next britney
the next time i mess up
i will blame some1 else
my lifes 1 big mess til then
oh whoa whoa i cant wait to lip sync again

2. the 7 things i lyk to do
pose nude
act rude
dress lyk a whore
act immature
lip sync
and drink
and the 7th thing i like the most that i do
i sleep with you

i love both of them…i would have answered earlier but i reached my limit yesterday.
i think 1 would be easier to sing personally, but im singing them both in my head now, and when i hear those songs im going to sing the new lyrics xD
i just listened to 1 and sung your lyrics and it sounds good!

Help!! Audtion song?!?!?!?

3

Ok, I will soon be auditioning for a radio talent type search thing (think Radio American Idol) and I need an audition song. It can be any genre of music (I prefer broadway, just my taste). I am a soprano and wish to show of my middle range. I don't want anything too high due to possible nerves and things like that. My old teacher used to tell me that you don't need to show off during an audition. Sing a song well and you are good. So I need some suggestions! I like the song 'Come To Your Senses' from Tick Tick…Boom but im not sure id be able to pull it off but I love it lol. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hmmm… I'm a soprano and I take vocal lessons so let me see if I can help you with this…

My Heart Will Go On from Titanic
Tonight from the West Side Story
I Could Have Danced All Night from My Fair Lady
The Impossible Dream (my favorite!) from Man of La Mancha
Somewhere Over the Rainbow from Wizard of Oz
I'll Stand By You by the Pretenders
You'll Never Walk Alone

I highly suggest "I'll Stand By You" since it doesn't get high at all, but I feel more comfortable singing "My Heart Will Go On." It all depends on what kind of soprano you are. Hope this helps.(:

American Idol audition process?

3

Can anybody tell me how the audtion process really works? I mean obviously all those people don't actually get to sing for Randy, Paula, and Simon, so who exactly do you sing for. How many people actually do get to sing for the real judges and how do they select who does?

The thousands of potential contestants have to audition before a group of people BEFORE they even see Simon, Paula & Randy.
