I’m not asking for amazing or impressive. I just want to sound pleasant enough so I don’t make people’s ears bleed. I’m willing to practice as much as it takes.
when I was learning to sing, my biggest struggle was with listening to the note then matching it. I suggest learning a song with small range (most modern Gospel music is like this because it is written for an average church member to sing) and working with someone who can play a piano/keyboard to help you find and reproduce the notes on cue.
It’s like learning to read. Once you recognize letters, you can read words. Once you recognize notes on a staff, you can read the ebb and flow of music, find the best key in which to sing for you and know when to sing and when to rest in a song.
